Logitech G Play: A Night to Remember

Every so often you get to stand in the middle of something that feels bigger than the sum of its parts. Hosting Logitech G’s Melbourne showcase at Fortress was one of those moments. It was more than an event. It was a celebration of how gaming tech, community, and culture come together.

I was also fortunate enough to share the stage with Jake Venditti, a seasoned esports caster who knew plenty about Rainbow Six Siege X, and I couldn’t help but highlight my age by mentioning Rainbow Six Vegas as we talked our way through a few matches alongside the pro players.

I was lucky enough to  test some of the new tech a week before the show as well.

The Logitech racing wheel became an instant hit at home. My father in law strapped in for a few laps around Daytona in Forza and tore past 300 kilometres per hour with the biggest grin on his face.

Friends and I pondered where else the wheel could shine. Star Wars Squadrons was our favourite pick and imagining that haptic feedback shaking us through a space battle made it hard to stop talking about what might be possible .

But to the event itself, it delivered everything you could hope for. Fortress was buzzing with esports talent, influencers, and sports personalities all under one roof. It felt like a proper love letter to the community.

That is exactly the kind of energy Levelhead Gaming exists to celebrate. There were plenty of familiar faces in the crowd and a few kind words about my hosting that meant more than I can put into print.

The racing scene stole the spotlight. Lachie Dalton, a professional racer who trains with iRacing and the Logitech wheel, was generous with his time and insights.

His passion was infectious. Scott, the iRacing commentator, was equally unforgettable. He broke down the craft with such detail I could barely keep up.

One thing he said really hit me. Real drivers sometimes take their hands off the wheel in a collision to avoid breaking their wrists. After feeling the raw feedback of the Logitech wheel at home I understood exactly what he meant...Impressive and a little frightening at the same time.

Food and drinks flowed as players queued for their turn. Groups of pros huddled together, eyes locked on the competition. You could feel the tension build across the night and then watch it burst in relief during the esports matches the following evening.

A personal highlight was catching up with Fortress co-founder Jon Satterly. Years ago I interviewed him when the venue was still a fresh idea. Standing on the main stage as host and hearing him say I had experienced one of the fullest Fortress journeys was a moment of pure full circle magic.

As Melbourne International Games Week approaches this was the perfect way to kick off the season. Logitech G put on a show that blended hardware, competition, and community in a way that felt inspiring. I walked away even more excited for the downpour of gaming goodness waiting just around the corner.
